![]() When the villagers became in awe of the training device, Prince Charming had another one built (this one a carousel) so the entire kingdom could spin and enjoy the invention. With peace in the kingdom, Prince Charming had time to practice for jousting tournaments, so he built a training device to practice the art of ring-spearing. The backstory behind the name change was that after Cinderella and Prince Charming were married, they took residence in Cinderella’s Castle. ![]() When moved to Magic Kingdom from New Jersey in 1971, the carousel was originally called Cinderella’s Golden Carrousel, before taking its current name on June 1, 2010. Like the one in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom, the King Arthur Carrousel was purchased, refurbished and moved to the park. The King Arthur Carrousel in Fantasyland at Disneyland was featured in the telecast for the park’s opening day celebration in 1955. ![]() Walt Disney came up with the idea for his first theme park after watching his daughters ride the carousel at Griffith Park in Los Angeles. A carousel, also known as a merry-go-round, was the inspiration for Disneyland park in California.
